Black rice, also known as forbidden rice/ kala chawal/ chak-hao. It has rich antioxidants, nutty and aromatic, deep black color, and usually turns deep purple when cooked, its dark purple color is primarily due to its anthocyanin content. It is a nutrient and effective food for diabetic persons also.
